Home Up

Jim writes.....                                            (Also see Dawson Creek.)

Yesterday, we had a bit of a fuel flow problem with one tank not feeding at all and some difficulties switching from tank to tank.  Earl checked it out on the ground today and it all seemed to be resolved.  After getting airborne everything was working beautifully and the flight from Whitecourt to Dawson Creek as expected.  The countryside is very picturesque with large green fields, heavily timbered patches and many lakes, rivers and ponds laced throughout.  Earl spotted a couple of moose in the edge of a lake and we saw pretty little villages and many oil wells.  As we came within 20 miles of Dawson Creek the turbulence increased and the outside left tank again quit feeding and the engine began to sputter.    We were prepared and by quickly switching tanks any problems were avoided.

Our friends from yesterday were all here in the terminal and will spend tonight as the weather ahead is still too bad for us to go any further.  As this is Canada Day most of the people are in the next village for a BBQ and fireworks tonight.  Dawson Creek is known as the "mile 0" city or the beginning of the Alaska Highway.  We went in and looked at some of the historical sites plus having lunch.  Spent the rest of the afternoon back at the airport checking the weather just in case something would change and we could get further toward our goal.  Doesn't look like it will happen so  we hope to leave in the early am.
